OLIVER TWIST
Book, music, and lyrics by Natalie Snapp
Adapted from the novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens
Directed by Lee Ann Horner
March 22, 23, and 24, 2018
Oliver Twist is the tale of a young boy who becomes an orphan within minutes of his birth to a single young mother. His Mother's shame prevents her from turning to the one who loves her unconditionally, and her life ends as Oliver's begins. Oliver spends his first few years in a workhouse with other boys who share his fate-alone in a crowd, facing each day with fear, sadness, and resignation.
Oliver is lured by empty promises of companionship and belonging, but at what cost? Is there always a catch? How can one know whom to trust?
Oliver soon encounters a benevolent man who displays the mercy of an all powerful Father. Through coincidence of meeting -or providence of divine appointment, rather- Oliver discovers that a seemingly hopeless start to life is no guarantee of a life without hope.
This is a grand story of finding family through forgiveness, love, trust...and a reminder that one is never Fatherless.
